Okay so call me slow, late, visually impaired, or whatever
but I recently just discovered the Kindred series. How is that possible? Well I was in school and most books I read
were from recommendations. Lately I
started following authors that my other book friends follow and Evangeline
Anderson was one of the authors. So
there was a post about ARC for Shadowed and I JUMPED at it!! Unbeknownst to me this
book was part of a series! But that did
NOT deter me from reading this book.
The story of Reddix a Kindred male with RTS syndrone and an
earthling woman named Nina completely sucked me in. I literally longed for my lunch hour at work
to find a little corner and read to my hearts delight for 60 minutes. I would rather not give TOO much away and
allow you to read the story yourself; however, the story of this Kindred man
and earthling woman who meet in a very unconventional way (both figuratively
and literally), who are drawn to each other when it seems that all odds are against
them, who have a visceral need and desire for one another, and are finally
pushed over the edge due to a mistake captivated me. Call me a sucker if you will for enjoying a
good happily ever after ending, but that was NOT the reason I was drawn into
the story. I was drawn into the
dysfunction, the complexity of the situation, the internal fight between right
and seemingly wrong, the sinister swamp witch, along with overcoming fear to
move forward.
I was under the impression that the book had ended in a
cliffhanger but I am excited to know that there will be a ninth installment in
the series. If you are silly like me,
sure you can read this book if you want, but I would strongly recommend reading
the glossary of term first to better understand the Kindred terminology. Otherwise, I plan to read book one through
book seven and patiently wait for book nine.
I haven't read this series, but am glad that you found a great read to get engrossed in:)
